The brass gears are each passivated to produce a nicer finish and help prevent tarnishing over time. This means you can fiddle for even longer before needing to give your Gear Train a service! To keep it looking nice, renaissance wax can be used to shine up your Gear Train. If your train does tarnish over time, using Brasso before a layer of renaissance wax can bring it back, but this may remove the passivation layer as Brasso is a mild abrasive.
The stainless steel Gear Train is easy to maintain. A simple wipe with a clean, dry cloth is all that’s needed to keep everything looking nice and shiny.
You'll want to disassemble the Gear Train to polish it up nicely and once everything is cleaned and shining again, reassembly becomes a satisfying little puzzle!
